MASSOTHERAPY INFORMATION

          What is massotherapy?

Massotherapy (or massage therapy) is the treatment of disorders of the human body through "hands on" manipulation of the soft tissues.

Massotherapy is also a kind of "preventative medicine." It is used to relieve physical stress and imbalance before they develop into serious problems.

          Who needs massotherapy?

            Anyone under stress

General massage relieves stress-related symptoms and brings peace to body and mind. It is a must for peak performance in today's world.

            Anyone in chronic pain

Massotherapy can relieve pain resulting from a wide variety of conditions.

            Anyone involved in sports

Sports massage can prevent injuries and improve performance. When injuries do occur, massage decreases recovery time and reduces the formation of adhesions (scar tissue).

Anyone with joint problems, stiffness or immobility

Massotherapy can help restore flexibility and freedom of movement, often when other medical approaches have failed. Massotherapy has alleviated many problems for which surgery was considered.

Anyone who is not getting enough sleep

A one hour general massage is said to be equivalent to about four hours of sleep.

            massage

Anyone wanting to get more in touch with their bodies or to feel better about themselves

The psychological and emotional benefits of massage could fill volumes.

            Anyone in recovery or counseling

Experiencing safe touch is often a valuable adjunct to treatment.

Anyone who is unable to exercise regularly

Massage can provide many of the physiological benefits of exercise and may prevent or slow the deterioration associated with immobility.

Anyone who wants better health, longer life and more energy

By normalizing unhealthy tissues, improving circulation and releasing spasms and restriction, massage benefits every organ and system in the body. Massage also helps to cleanse toxins from the tissues.

What happens when I get a massage?

If it is your first massage, you will be asked to arrive about 20 minutes early to fill out a Medical Case History Form. This will allow the massotherapist to determine if you require any special care.

Next you will enter a private room where you will receive instructions on how to prepare for your massage. The massotherapist then leaves the room while you disrobe. (You may leave your underwear on.) NOTE - You will always be covered by a sheet during the massage.

Most importantly, relax! This is a time for you to unwind and benefit from the massage .... so enjoy it!
